Letter To BoT About Jordan
Dear Gallaudet Board of Trustees,
Due to Dr. Jordan’s “careless” actions, I am now asking you the Board of Trustees to preserve the reputation of Gallaudet University and terminate Dr. Jordan immediately.
Dr Jordan no longer has any respect or courtesy of any students due to his words and actions ( as you may know that actions does speaks louder than words).
The most important duty (number one) of any University president is to take every precautions and protect their own students from any harmful injuries and President Jordan has failed that in a HUGE manner.
Several deans, provosts and several university presidents that I had discussed with. They all say same thing.. the prime directive of ANY university president is ensure student’s safety before anything else period. Once that role has been breached then it is time for immediate termination or immediate resignation of an university president.
Dr. Jordan has breached that trust and faith in ensuring students safety by accepting responsibility of Mt. Bision incident and yet he still BLAMES the student, therefore he MUST GO.
Dr. Jordan was totally neglect of the hunger striking students, did not even visit them once to meet and talk with them, and ordered the staff to open up the brentwood gates without any concerns of students safety thus causing several injuries. These actions shows that Dr. Jordan’s attitude to the students.
If DPS had the nerve of denying to the media and other people of any injuries on premise then Its time for its president to leave. there is no question about it.
As matter of fact, one dean had told me this, If he was faced with this situation and the students are still controlling the gates, instead of forcing the Gallaudet staff to injure the students on purpose and blaming them for that. He would have simply called the police department and let them handle the situation then the issue is considered proper procedure and STILL ensure student’s safety.
Dr Jordan no longer cares about Gallaudet University’s students by following through with these actions.
How can you expect any students, faculty, parents or even staff member to have total trust in Dr Jordan’s behavior in the future after what he has done to the students in the past month.
I strongly advise you to consider TERMINATING DR. JORDAN IMMEDIATLY on these grounds that he can not lead the university anymore once the faith in him to ensuring students safety has been lost.
Also revoke the name of I. King Jordan Center, he does NOT deserve the building to be named after him after all of what he did in the past month.
Thank you
A former Class of 88′

Right on, terminate Jordan right away. He still advocates for JKF and will keep on, as if he’s in love with her. With him speaking constantly for JKF, how can we find peace and resolve for Gallaudet. FIRE THE XXXXXXX!
Jordan violated the university policy of staff conduct repeatedly, that is for sure. How fair is it that the students staff, and faculty face reprisals while he who broke laws, is not being held accountable? It speaks of double standards to me and very unfair for the protesters
Although my view is probably a minority view, I say leave the guy alone. He only has weeks left before he retires. We need to move on and start the healing process on campus. This won’t help the cause and will only hinder our progress. Unity for Gallaudet. Let’s move on!
It’s not only you. He has two months left. We can live through it. Just leave him alone.
He’ll leave quietly, which is for the best. Although he made a lot of really DUMB mistakes, he never meant to hurt Gallaudet, and he cared about Gallaudet as much as we did.
Adn he did a lot of good. The campus is very beautiful, thanks to his profilic fundraising skills.
So leave the guy alone.
Bigots leave Gallaudet!!!
Bigots Leave Gallaudet!!!
NOW!!!!!
JKF & his admnstrtn have to go now cuz he has not apologize to the victims. I am going to sent my email to BoT to request Jordan to leave the campus right now cuz we need the healing to start right now! Thnx 4 ur time 2 read my msg.
Wild, unfortunately Jordan had hurt many students by condoning the actions of DPSs and PPDs. Who ordered the pr department to tell the media Fernandes was rejected because she was Not Deaf Enough? Why were there reprisals given against the decision of BoT not to discpline those who supported or are involved in the protest and didn’t violate the laws?
How can we all start healing if he doesn’t permit us to heal?
Agreed.
If you have concrete evidence that IKJ or anyone in his admin has done something illegal, fine. Share it. No, rumors and wild allegations don’t count as documentation. If you truly believe you’re on to something, use the Freedom of Info act to gather evidence and show it.
But until I see something more concrete than rumors, I’ll vote for letting it drop. He has only two months left. Let’s focus our energy on more productive purposes, like figuring out how we can increase the voice and participation os students, fac, staff, parents, and alum in Gallaudet’s governance. Or setting up an independent newspaper, with high standards of accuracy and objectivity, to help monitor the Gallaudet admin. Or anything that helps us move forward, instead of seeking revenge for both real and imagined offenses of the past.
Jim, since you are obviously a bigot who cannot accept the fact that there are already a great diversity of people on campus including people of deaf culture whom you show a strong dislike toward , why don’t you leave Gallaudet?
For those of you who think we should leave Irving K Jordan alone for the remaining two months are in a dream world. Two months are enough time to do a lot of damage, such as firing faculty, and staff, kicking out students, etc.
On the other hand, who is going to run Gallaudet when Jordan is out now?
In response to response #4 above it would be nice if jordan did indeed leave quietly. However based on jordan’s
most recent comments about people joining him in helping
to heal Gallaudet it looks to us like he is planning to get himself anointed interim Prez and keep jane, paul and
mercy around. This in the name of “healing” our beloved
Gallaudet. Lets keep the pressure on abt the $4 million
that went missing and that the board did nothing about.
Probably on jordan s say so-it has never been formally investigated by the feds. Dont let this jackass jordan steal our victory away from us!
pleasure, it is very strange that the BoT have received the allegations of the missing 4 million dollars but several claimed that they never heard of the finanical mismanagement.
They were told that the allegations were made by a disgruntled employee, but they were never told that he was fired because he refused to commit perjury to Congress about the financial mismanagement of 4 million dollars.
Elisabeth, real financial whistleblowers don’t whine to students about
being fired. They hire lawyers, sue their former employers, and go to the
press. Where is the lawsuit? Where are the news articles? What’s the
name of this anonymous person, anyway? It all smells funny and likely to
be an excuse for something more embarrassing that caused the person to be
fired, that’s all.
I agree. It’ll send a message out: WE WILL NOT TOLERATE AUDISM.
Jordan has done so much damage to Gallaudet AND the Deaf community. We shouldn’t stand for that. Jordan does not deserve a spot in the Deaf community anymore and should be forced out. Hitler was forced out, and so should Jordan.
The problem here is, Gallaudet has audists running the university. The entire board needs to be replaced, the president needs to be terminated, and audists within the system needs to be terminated from Gallaudet as well. We need decent human beings to run Gallaudet University.
To support audism, or to be against audism, that’s the question.
I personally choose to be against audism.
Sincerely,
Erick Ketcham
He’ll be gone soon. I just checked, um thre’s only 8 weeks left. 2 don’t really count because of winter break.
*shrug* I just think it really isn’t worth the effort to try to kick him out.
We have other things to focus on, that’s all. Oh, and of course we should watch the “ship” very carefully to make sure that he doesn’t do anything dumb.
I don’t think he will. He seemed to be a man defeated, depressed and who has given in to what is going to happen. He really did care for Gallaudet, and I believe that. I think he really did mean it when he said that we need to work together to heal Gallaudet.
I’m not downplaying what he did. I’m just saying that in this case, maybe we need to take the high ground and forgive him for his actions. He will go soon.
I also don’t think the reprisals will be really bad, either. Remember, we’ve all heard it’s probably community service and/or write a letter or something.
Sometimes you just have to let the other guy save face to keep the peace. Ya know? I think that’s what the reprisals are about.
I know it’s not a popular opinion around here, but honestly, he’ll be gone before we know it.
DeafDeal, I know this person and BoT knew about his allegations but chose to ignore them because of what Jordan told them. He loved Gallaudet too much to sue the university and still hopes to this day the BoT will be willing to listen to him
