  1. I supported the FSSA with all of my strength throughout the protest in spite of unfavorable media coverage. Unfortunately, I finally got turned off when I saw Jane Jonas’ photos (an unbelievably long beer funnel was pictured) and read the article in the Washington Post today:
“That set off a night of jubilation on the campus in Northeast Washington, including hugs, beer funnels, speeches about unity…”

Come one, beers?? bongs?? How tacky and unprofessional. Image is all image, folks!!! *disgusted*

  2. Disappointed – they didn’t party for three weeks, to show their serious commiment to the protest/hunger strikers.

They were really exhausted and wanted to celebrate.

I’m not going to even look at the pictures in the media because that’s all they have done all along – distoring facts from left to right.

I’ll give them the right to party to celebrate, then roll their sleeves to start working – they have a long road ahead.

    Give them some credit.

  3. Disappointed, they refrained from drinking and worked very hard during the protest. They weathered cold and wet elements, faced multiple arrests, brutality, and starvations.

I was there when we all heard the good news. I was very impressed by the consideration of the student leaders regarding the fire codes and safety of bystanders when they discussed about the burning of the banner (it wasn’t an effigy). During the whole protest, the students were courteous and self disciplined.

They deserved a big celebration. My regret was that I couldn’t stay with them and help them celebrate! :)
