Letter From Maine GUAA To BoT

Dear Board of Trustees,
 
We, the GUAA members in Maine, would like to express our concern about the current events at Gallaudet University.  There is a lack of the community wide support for the selection of Dr. Jane K. Fernandes as Gallaudet University’s new President.  We are also concerned about the selection process itself and the continued negativity in the media reports about the University. 
 
We know you have received similar letters from other GUAA Chapters and do not want this to be repetitive. In summary , we agree with and support the two demands of the FSSA:
 
1. For Dr. Fernandes to resign and to re-open the search for a new President of Gallaudet Univeristy.
 
2.  That no reprisals be given to any  faculty member, staff member or student for their involvement in this protest.
 
We hope this situation will be resolved promptly.  Thank you for your consideration of this letter.
