Endless Pondering

Legal Options About Brentwood Gate Ambush And Attack

Students, you do have the right to file complaints at the police department and you are encouraged to do that, both the injured and uninjured. Witnesses, you, too, can file complaints at the police department. They will follow up while the university administrators won’t follow up, violating the requirements of their own positions to promote the welfare and safety of the students as they were hired to do. The DPSs, PPDs, and rental cops endangered the safety of the sleeping students when they threw heavy objects on the top of  tents. They hit the kneecap of one student with a metal pipe. They kicked another student in the groin. They lacerated the toe of a third student. Two had to go to the hospital for medical treatment. Not only did they break the law, they also endangered the safety of the students they were entrusted to protect.  Just like they did at HMB.

Suggestions:

 - the injured file complaints with the metropolitan police department (mpd) regarding the mistreatment.

- the students file complaints with the MPD regarding Gallaudet employees throwing metal pipes and construction wood pieces on top of the tents while they were asleep, endangering their safety..

-they file complaints with the MPD about the front-loader hauling the tents up, without the Gallaudet employees checking inside to ensure nobody is inside, sound asleep.

-collect all the videotapes and photographs

-documentation of the injuries by photographs. It will help if they are witnessed by medical professionals so they will be documented in medical records.

-witnesses contact mpd and report the misconduct of Gallaudet employees treating the protesters that they observed that morning

-remember  the mpd cannot help the students unless they receive formal complaints, then they can investigate these allegations.

  1. Don’t just give someone the original copies of the videotapes or photos. Make more than one copy and keep the originals and negatives elsewhere.

That way, if someone says “oh, sorry, we lost the stuff…” all you need to do is get your copies of the originals and go from there.
