From 8 PM Rally

Debbie Potts- we need you at the front gate.  The hunger strikers need
you.  Please help us.

Ryan-  after this we’re going to go to the front gate to show their
support.  Who is willing to do that.  We’re all willing, right?  Yes. 
Now we need to develop a plan of action.

Delia- we had a meeting today with IKJ, JKF and Paul Kelly.  Myself,
Ryan, and a few others had a meeting to discuss what happened this
morning.  Immediately they said they didn’t want us to videotape the
meeting. We argued and finally they agreed.  We kept asking questions. 
Why would you bulldoze that area.  That’s dangerous right?  They said
the universiy needs to be open for safety reasons.  They said fire
trucks couldn’t get on campus one time.  We said the police agreed 6th
street was enough.  The said it wasn’t true.  They kept accusing us of
closing this university.  But they were the ones making the orders,
injuring students.  They didn’t believe that anyone was injured.  It’s
your fault, you are a mob.  They didn’t even warn us.  At 7 am people
were sleeping, why then?  They refused to accepted responsibility.  They
focused on opening the gate.  But now the gate is damaged and anyone can
walk in or out.  They didn’t understand our point again.  Have we been
lying?  No.  They’re lying.  We all want this situation to be over
with.  “Step down so we can move on and keep gallaudet together.”  They
said we’re destroying the university, not them.  They tried to say we
left willingly.  They think we’re lying.  Do we accept that, those
acussations?  No.  After that meeting I felt anguished.    I want you to
stay true to your word.  The hunger strikers have ben going for 13
days.  Please keep your promises and work.  Support the hunger strikers,
rally and suport them.  Everyone goes back to their lives after rallies
like everything is normal.  If you care about Gallaudet, show it.

Ryan- thank you, Delia.  One mssd parent wants to talk abt their meeting
with IKJ.

Mother-  I’m a mother of the mSSD homecoming king.  Honestly, before I
didn’t know what was going on.  Now I support you.  We don’t want you to
get out of control.  3 weeks ago when the students missed school, I
objected.  These kids can’t afford to miss school.  But this morning I
saw what happened, and wow.  The students are supporting you there.

I saw IKJ today and introduced myself and said I’m concerned for the
students. I explained about the MSSD interships, which he didn’t even
know about.  He’s completely uninvolved with mssd.  (Sidenote- I’m
pretty distracted, sorry.  Missing a lot of what she’s saying).

Ryan- here’s a sign MSSD students made showing their support.
“Gallaudet, you are not alone.” There are more, but we’ll show them
later.

community.”

Okay, anyone have paper and a pen? Vivienne Schoeder, good.  Okay.

Rachel rose-  some of you might be surprised to see me here.  After 16
years, dps is still not communicating with students.  The fact that the
adm still isn’t communicating with students is enough to push me over to
this side.  I’ve talked with ben jarashow and I think we should set up
an audism checklist, to documents incidents of audism for the future. 
For example, no interpreters during the goalpost incidents, hmb, etc. 
We need to keep documentation for the future

Father of 2 kdes students- I think many people are distracted and not focused

on school work.  You can ask for an incomplete.  That means you
have extra time to complete your work.  They you don’t have to pay extra
if you fail or whatever.  If gives you more time to focus and be
involved with the protest.
