The Victim Brian Morrison Shares His Experience
Brian Morrison: I woke up this morning to chaos and destruction. There
was no communication. We made a human chain and liked outselves around
the post, standing motionless. Now he’s showing us his disgusting
toenail that was torn off. We’re not safe here. Dps is intimidating
students. Who’s protecting us? No one. You are all in danger here. I
was standing, and they injured me. Stop your everyday activities and
protest. The hunger strikers are willing to die. You all need to put
your things aside and focus on the protest. Hmb had a lot of students
because their classes were cancelled. Now the outside world thinks
everything is fine. If you stop going to classes, the university will
stop running. I’m stressed and tired too. Help us please…

ACLU Not Interested Last Month
The ACLU was disinterested when I contacted them two weeks prior to HMB raid. He sighed with impatience and said when he has time, he will review the papers I sent him. I was put off by his attitude. The next call was more productive. The second law firm that I contacted on the same day, National Laywer Guild. was very interested and corresponded with me for several days before I left for Florida.
While I was in FL, I still kept in regular contact with students and kept blogging. I reported the HMB lockdown, and DPS brutality. I passed along to them the next night that there may be a possible police raid (based on a credible source). The students were scared because that day DPS prevented the media from coming on the campus ‘”for security reasons” and they wanted to talk to the media. I managed to hook up a reporter with the students on the phone. I was afraid for the safety of the students and I know many other people were. I called both ACLU and NLG the next morning just before I went on the road and told them the students got hurt. Students told me later that night when I was in SC that they were talking to the lawyers.
To tell you the truth, I wasn’t impressed with ACLU because of his disinterest in the first time. NGL was the one who have shown true interest. I am just so sorry I couldn’t get them to start working with the students before the HMB brutality occured. That was what I was trying to avoid in the first place. Now the students got hurt again.

I have forwarded everything I posted on my blog today to Washington Post Susan Kinzie, so hopefully she will share with the readers more details on the DPS and PPD ambush on the students at MSSD gate this morning.

5:30 PM I Told Commerson
to have the students report to the MPD the fact that they were assaulted and that the police need to interview the witnesses. These must be documented.

These are very disturbing
DPS and PPD woke students up initially by throwing construction materials at the tents (heavy pipes, wood pieces, etc), and then bulldozed the tents down WITHOUT CHECKING TO SEE IF STUDENTS WERE INSIDE.
Suzy Rosen-Singleton had an argument with DPS chief Mel Batten-Mickens, and asked why they were not warned before this took place, despite MBM’s promise to inform them beforehand. MBM said “We didn’t arrest anyone. We would just warn you before arrests took place. There were no arrests.” Upon being pressured further, MBM said she didn’t want to talk anymore and left the scene. more information « People of the Eye

5 PM News
The MSSD Gate is open with a blue tarp covering it. A student is sitting on top of the gate
A deaf facutly member Sue Mathers, looking distraught, said the students were hurt. they had no warning.
The graduate student Brian showed his lacerated toe, temporarily unwrapped. It didn’t look good and the guaze had dark stains. He said we didn’t do anything.
commentary: Contrary to the first time when the DPS injured the students during the HMB raid and the PR covered it up, the world heard the students today. They know that the students were ambushed while they were sleeping and that they got injured by the DPS and PPD. Not only do they see the evidence for themselves, they also believe you.

Gally PR Release
Update on College Hall closing and Brentwood Gate
Early this morning a large number of protestors took over College Hall, chaining the doors shut. After the protestors left the building on their own accord, Department of Public Safety [DPS] officers on the scene cut the chains and reponed the building.
Also this morning, DPS and Physical Plant employees opened the electronic gate at Brentwood Avenue. They used a front loader to remove tents, tarps, and other material that were blocking the entrance way. Some of the protestors resisted DPS’ efforts to open the gate and were injured, though none seriously. In particular, one protestor’s toe was cut and had to be treated by a D.C. EMT team called to the scene. Another protestor went to the hospital [not in an ambulance]. His condition is not known at this time.
At this time, the Brentwood Gate is open to foot traffic, but protestors’ vehicles continue to block the entrance.
