Endless Pondering

BoT’s Paternalism

I was at a few places where the boards of trustees were in the process of selecting new presidents or directors.  They definitely did far, far and far better jobs than the board of trustees at Gallaudet University.  They kept searching, searching and searching for a candidiate until nearly everyone is pleased with a particular individual.  The board of trustees at Gallaudet University practiced paternalism, thinking what is best for Gallaudet University without listening to stakeholders.

The DPN and UFG indeed have one thing in common, though different trustees in 1988 and 2006, in both instances they apparently have had the same mindsets since they miserably failed to listen to their stakeholders.

  3. We did not do nothing when the BoT become controlled by the AGB till now. IKJ picked the board members and the Congress approved his selection of the members. It is too late to go back and fix the board.

  4. I do wonder if there is a balance between the different groups of deaf people. I get the feeling it isn’t. That can cause problems for a signing university
