  1. I just wanted to say that you are doing an outstanding job of keeping the world posted on events at Gallaudet. You must be exhausted and yet you keep going with no let-up and no “I’m tired, I’m taking a break from blogging” as some others do. Many many thanks for all your hard work to keep us all up to date!!

  3. Tom, thanks. I am actually very exhausted and feeling pretty sick, but this is too important so I’ll blog the best I can.

Greg, it is very unethical and unbecoming for a president appointee, especially when it is reported on the same day Fernandes said the protesters practice terrorism and anarchy. She is rapidly losing credibility among the media and the readers. For someone soon to become a president and responsible for fundraising, this is something she can ill afford.

  4. Just because a act isn’t criminal doesn’t mean it’s ethical.

MZ already pointed out that leader shouldn’t be engaged in such actions. This is in poor taste.

  5. Oh one more thing… MZ, surely you should report this to news? Especially the same one who videotaped her talking about it?

Do it soon before they try to cover it up, too.

  6. Anon, I’ve already reported it to Washington Post few hours ago. But I hadn’t thought of NBC4. I’ll do that. Thanks

  7. NBC Channel 4 news did a segment the day of the March from Gallaudet (10/21). It was well done and I wrote them telling them I appreciated their willingness to cover the story.

Why isn’t the media posting the letters that protesters (students?) are getting threatening them with arrest? Are students the only ones getting these letters or are the letters being served on others (alumni)?

It would be great to know how many people have received these threatening letters from Gallaudet (Meloyde R. Batten-Mickens, Executive Director, Department of Public Safety) and what preceded the letter (participation in a protest / published editorial letter /Internet Blog participation).

  10. Embarrassed, then Fernandes should have made that clear during the press release instead letting the readers think it was very recent. Not only was is misleading, it was also unethical, unprofessional, and improper.

Emily, I was told by several sources that not all the students who were arrested on Black Friday recieved the judical court letters. Only the most active and the most vocal ones are.  Currently I am unable to verify this, but if this is correct, this violates the cruel and unusual punishment, as stated by the Bill of Rights.

  14. Tom M, the blog has been converted to the moderator option last night, so some of the responses may not appear quickly like when this blog was unmoderated
