Fernandes Threatened By A Person With Gun? A Videoclip Included
Commentary: This video clip shows the news coverage of the Gallaudet Protest today. The gathering in front of the Capitol with the reporters interviewing Ryan was exhibited with the usual footage of Gallaudet’s front gate, the infamous arrests, and Fernandes saying she will not resign. However one statement Fernandes made near the end of the tape got my attention. She actually alleged that someone threatened her with a gun. Did she report this to the police? What’s the evidence? Since the administration did not believe student assertions they were assaulted by its campus security guards, will it take Fernandes at her word without evidence?

I want to see the evidence or police report of who brought the gun to Fernandes. I do not believe her because she is accustomed to lying so much.
What comical statement that only makes sense coming from her! She must have had the water pistol in the tub with her and looked in the mirror .. Ahhhhh a gun!

Can anyone verify if there is an ordinance outlawing any firearms on Gallaudet campus, and can be jailed?
If that was the case, the person who did it would already be in jail, and it’d have already been reported.

She does not say she was threatened WITH a GUN. She says she was threatend to BE SHOT. As in a death threat via a letter or words. Watch it carefully again. She says ‘shot’. And signs an action verb (sorta of… certainly not clear ASL).
What the interpreter for JFK said,
“I’ve been threatened to be shot, yes.”
Just verbal.

Hope jane’s saying about being threaten by someone aiming a gun at her is not true. If it is not true, please have her be removed as president and be sent for mental counseling.
please keep eye on jane as she may need mental counseling as she can have breakdown anytime. have a stretcher ready for her to transport for counseling. no desire for king nor his administration.
I don’t understand what she said of at #7. What does “I have been threatened to be shot” mean? Can you explain?
#11….She means someone threatened to shoot her. Usually this means someone wrote or otherwise communicated a desire to shoot her. Also, just before Fernandes signs it, the report (voice) says the she and her family have received death threats.

The interpreter voiced something before Fernandes signed she was threatened with a gun? Interpreters are supposed to voice after someone signs, not before. This is strange.
I double checked and lipread her saying ‘threatened to be shot’ while signing ‘threaten to shoot me’. Unfortunately her use of sim com and the cutting of that particular segment makes it difficult for me to follow what she said and signed.
The videoclip isn’t accessible to the deaf/hh because it’s not captioned.

I dunno. It looks to me like she’s saying she’s been threatened with being shot, not that a gun’s been waved in her face. It could even be true.
I’m much more interested in the potential fallout from her fiduciary duty threat to the board. All the hearing people I showed that article to (who don’t know the general background of the protest) all thought that was the oddest part, and perceived it as a threat, and all thought she’d be gone soon.
Might want to start hammering on the financial angle. Deman an audit of G.’s budgetary operations.

what bothers me the most are you mud-slinging her _personally_. One even implied that because of her poor ASL skill, therefore she must be lying. geez! i never thought i’d reach this point, but now i am embarrassed to be deaf. I’m just glad that my friends, both hearing and deaf, know that most of us aren’t like you kids.

Unbelieve this. JF are doing wrongful! ASL is normal from human culture deaf’s way. Hard of hearing is normal using the english language. Oral, Hard of hearing and Deaf is all NORMAL using the different language speaking!
Yeah, one of the cartoons someone drew up suggested that she be shot. It’s an isolated incident, apparently, but that would spook the bejesus out of anyone. Be civil.

Jane doesn’t respect others. She have harmed many people at Gallaudet University with her actions and her words.

*stratch my head* How reliable and trustworthy JK made such a claim to the Campus Police?
Why not the DC Police (MPD) take up an investigation on attempted murder or physical assault? That is a serious matter for everyone involved. I would like to know who the person make such a threat against JK.
FSSA and protestors do not tolerate such physical or verbal threats against the Gallaudet adminstration and not want to give any ammuntions to those people.
JK reminds me much of the sadistic Queen in Disney’s “Alice in Wonderland”. She would bully around and pretend to be hassled and threatened by the sweet-natured creatures in this same film.

Luckily, hearing persons can hear to the audio what Jane Fernandes said on the video clip while Deaf people view what she said in sign language without any subtitles or CC. That is why it can misunderstand Deaf’s thoughts if she was not clear to say in sign language. Why not asking the TV media to provide the subtitles on the video clips if anyone is/are Deaf? So Deaf viewer can read and understand what they talk about so it prevents misundertanding.
