Endless Pondering

1,000 Protesters At The Front Gate

“Last night, about 1,000 protesters stood shoulder to shoulder from the front gates of the school in Northeast Washington up a hill to Chapel Hall.”

1000 protesters already! Way to go! Unity for Gallaudet is growing rapidly. With the homecoming weekend coming up, more protesters will come. Keep on with the momentum! We are doing incredibly well.

Kudos to Susan Kinzie! I’ve been in contact with this reporter since last May, passing along  important letters from different people and updating her on events on campus. She was the only one who really tried hard to understand the real issues. I’m gratified to see that in the midst of massive reporting of erroneous information by various media sources this month, she is the only one who had it pegged right this time. Finally we have a reporter who is really good at her job and listens to both sides. Her work is to be commended. For anyone who wants to contact her and let her know the specifics regarding the protest, please contact her at kinzies@washpost.com

  1. MZ, this is the same article that appeared on your earlier blog, “WashPost: Jordan is Criticized for Approving Arrests.” These 1,000 protestors were at the gate last night … there’s not that many right now.

  2. I saw most internatinal students did not support this protesrt before closed campus on Wednesday, Oct 11 by the protests.
After that, international students’ mind chenged to support the protest.

When protesters closed campus, some neutral and international students went to front gate because they were bored by closed classes.

Then, they began interact with protests, and the neutral and international students’ mind chenge to support the protest. It is like “Stockholm Syndrome.” Some neutral and international students was upset, depressed, and stressed, then they began to think that if Jane Fernandes resign, this protest will finish and open college and classes. Therefore, protester in Gallaudet was increased, 1000 protesters!

  3. Working, it is great that 1,000 protesters showed up last night! Just think how many will be there during the Homecoming weekend!

Guest, Stockholm Syndrome? Oh, please don’t insult the intelligence of these neutral and international college students. I am sure they were outraged by the misstatements uttered by the PR Dept and university administraters as well as by the multiple arrests of the students, just like countless alumni. A very poor strategy from Jordan, in my opinion.

  8. REOPEN tomorrow? Then Jane WON the battle. Due to Jane will not be brothered to have Protesters to stay at Front Gate> Jane expected to see go to dead. FSSA must shut down the campus or one of important building which will affect Jane and IKJ.
