Former Deaf Professor’s Reaction To Arrests

Folks,

I was crying when I watched the sneaky arrest of 135 brave young
people last night. I hail them all, they are true heroes of a just cause!
I hope they will all come back unhurt both physically and emotionally.
They deserve our full support!

Then I had to laugh, bitterly laugh when I watched Jane Fernandes’
performance in the afternoon, before the arrests. For a week she waited
for Jordan to clean up the campus for her, so that she could emerge
with her a fake smile, dressed in white gloves, and accept the worship
of the conquered and subjugated campus. But this did not happen.

So by the complaints she received for her hiding, she made a
nonsensical utterance 2 days ago that she won’t be willing to see
the protestors until the campus was released from ‘hostage’.
Nevertheless, yesterday she appeared at the security kiosk to lecture
students how bad they were for not letting poor babies enter the campus.

She switched position back and forth as convenience required. She
forgot if the campus was held in ‘hostage’ by protestors or by the forced appointment of herself, Jane Kelleher Fernandes as designate, which
appointment is being raped through now against the will of the Gallaudet
community.

She made an ‘offer’ for negotiating with a selected group of students,
which did not make sense at all. Her position as ‘designate’ carries
zero authority and zero accountability therefore cannot warrant any
guarantee for meaningful negotiation. Also, SBG is still in charge to
negotiate the 23 points of demand with the provost and the president.
Fernandes’ fake attitude could be read all over her body language, too.
She made an ultimatum to meet students in 30 minutes, but her
mandate for negotiation was unacceptable.

So why did she come to the security kiosk at all? Her intention was
to charge students falsely by the refusal to negotiate. Being her terms
unacceptable, she can only blame herself. She did not even aligned
her offer with the admin’s previous negotiation team!

We need to remember that the negotiations were broken by Mercy
Coogan who undermined the authority of the President’s position by
making a totally damaging statement to the media while the President
was still at the negotiation table. She said that no president could ever
agree with any of the demands on the list of the students. How evil
thing this statement was!! This led to the breakage of negotiations and
to the shutdown. The situation created by Mercy Coogan’s deliberate
plot came handy to Fernandes. She could made an empty offer now,
look flexible but at the same time she authorized the physical assault
and arrest of peaceful protestors by the police. Wow, wow and wow!
How insensitive you need to be to act like this?!

She was very happy with this achieved, as she showed herself as an
‘effective’ person probably at the first time in her life. Then she drove
home to celebrate the misery she managed to inflict upon the students.
In this short epizode we could identify all the riches of hypocracy,
deceit and manipulation engulfing in physical oppression of dissent
so characteristic of Jane Fernandes as a leader. We see it now what
kind of leadership style can be expected from her, if she gets the
crown she is up to get at any price.
