Endless Pondering

It’s An Emotional Time For Everybody

I’m staying out of the way..

DPS are going to arrrest our peaceful protester at 6th street.

A interpreter cried and couldn’t do her job with them.

Its emotinal time for everybody.

I K Jordan is the one who told DPS to go ahead arrest student in the
press release.

It will ruin Jordan’s image and also Jane’s too.   Also DPS will look
bad.

We will blame this to board of trustee for not listening to the student
and we will blame this to Jordan for not listening to his own
university,  we will blame Jane for her selffish to not resign for
student’s sake.   Jane think of herself not the student.

This is the evidence that Jane cannot lead this university..

This is the evidence that university is in chaos while Jordan told the
world that univeristy is ok.  He lied to the world.

Alumni around the world will not support Jordan and Jane.   The world
will not support this because this is peaceful protest.

Frightened But Inspired, Said A Protester At Front Gate

I’m frightened for the protestors who are risking their records. I am frightened they will experience audism in the prisons of DC. I am frightened by the coldness of King Jordan. But I am inspired by the bravery and unity of our protesting family.

From A Protester On The Frontline

I am standing above the sitdown protestors. Its very emotional time. There r like 100 protestors sitting down. Suzy Rosen is advising them on their legal rights. In bail w I’d only 2 hrs or less plus 150 bailot bucks. They’re singing ‘Gallaudet United Same’. All gates r still in lockdown. MPD was ordered to come arrest us in an hour before the arrests r to occur. Jordan made the order.

Now we are waiting for cops to come. Many signs ”ane Resign now’ and Jane Out Now.

Summary: Protesters vs. Administration

• protesters narrowed their demands to 2: reopen the search process
and no reprisals

• jk will talk to protesters only when they stop the lockdown

• yesterday several protesters openly discussed the possibility that
BOT and admin have something to hide by sticking to jk and not wanting
anyone else to be ikj’s successor

• ikj looks like a lost soul and protesters have lost respect for him;
some feel very sorry for him

• protesters need more foods and drinks; they need something to keep
them warm in cold temperatures

• protesters have big surprises for BOT and admin in next few days if
stalemate remains

• parents should get involved in protest to understand and protect
their children if anything bad happens

• mike moore may end up serving as interim president until campus
situation improves; bob davila is another top candidate for interim
president mentioned by protesters

• protesters want to hold BOT responsible for current crisis even
though they left ikj to clean up his own mess

• ikj is frustrated because he cannot control students like he control
fearful employees

• ikj and jk have not been hanging with students, faculty and staff in
cafeteria and other places like past presidents; they don’t understand
problems they caused and why people don’t trust them

• protesters have many leaders and outsiders don’t know who are
running the show

• protesters want parents, friends, alumni, students, faculty, and
staff to help educate biased media about reasons for protest

• more protest supporters will come out in the open when it is safe

• protesters warned that administration is playing divide and conquer
games to breakup protest and lockdown

• late night rally at gally is more fun with subway food store
employees supporting protest because of good business

Fernandes Falsely Blamed Protesters

Fernandes have repeatedly placed the responsibility of the MSSD and KDES closings on the protesters . One example: “For one week, deaf babies and children up to the 8th grade have not been able to attend KDES. Students from MSSD have not gotten their education for one week. Young people can’t make their appointments to get their hearing aids and hearing tests.” (from elisa’s blog Jane Fernandes Makes an Appearance)

From Clerc Center Staff: “We did not approve of Gallaudet University’s decision to close Clerc Center on October 11 and 12.  The protesters were prepared to allow MSSD and Kendall staff on-campus so that education for pre-collegiate students could continue uninterrupted.  University administrators shoulder the burden of responsibility for the two days of lost teaching time for those students”.( Letter from Clerc Center Staff)

Too Little, Too Late.

It took the university eight days to make this announcement when it should have been done immediately on the same day the peaceful students got hurt.  The university didn’t even ask them how they were doing, nor did it ever offered them any assistance. These students were ignored.

The media and the public were briefed that the students weren’t injured nor were pepper sprays used by DPS . The parents who entrusted the welfare of their children to the university received the same messages. These erroneous statements persisted for eight days.

Incidentally this press release was made after the Congress sent an inquiring letter to the university on its handling of this unfortunate incident.  The credibility of the University have already been severely damaged . elizabeth

MSSD/Kendall Staff Ask For JKF’s Resignation

The pressure is increasing for Dr. Fernandes to resign.  These courageous Clerc Center staff spoke out at the risk of their job security. It’s worthwhile reading this letter. It describes how these programs suffered under the Fernandes Administration. The complaints of the parents who took their kids out of these educational programs are validated by this letter, as well as grievances of teachers who resigned due to Fernandes’ approaches.  It also placed the sole responsibility of closing MSSD and Kendall programs during the protest on the University administrators.  elizabeth
