Endless Pondering

Where Were The Interpreters?

What were these officers thinking when they communicated with the students orally, perfectly aware that they were dealing with deaf students? Why hadn’t the D.C. Police Dept provide interpreters for the officers? Had they done this, these students wouldn’t have been injured. elizabeth

This second gate was where two students recently got assaulted by the police. The DC police. A female student was just standing there, blocking the police’s way. They told her to move, and she just turned around so her back was facing the police. A policeman came up to her and twisted her neck and stomped on her foot, hard. She fell down and scrapped her knees. Another student was also assaulted – his neck was grabbed by a policeman.

  1. somebody gotta educate the public that if they want to communicate with deaf, they need to provide the interpreters. if media wish to speak with them, bring the interpreters. if police want to speak with them, bring their own interpreter. they probably assumed that the interpreters on the campus can be used between gally students and public. they’re NOT… Those interpreters on campus are “owned” by Gally Adm… somebody need to get volunteer interpreters or encourage public to provide interpreters for Gally students to communicate with the public. I’m just suggesting… (not a gally student, but have a friend who is a student there.)

  2. I’ve seen too much of copy/paste from variety of blogs… this is a case of plagiarism (even your own “work”). can’t you just come up with something original in every blog? whoever you are, Richard Roehm.

  4. Richard Roehm,

Why don’t you shut up your yap? Everyone have a right to copy & paste news to keep all deaf communities updated.

Quit your whining and do something productive for deaf community!

Focus on the real issues of Gally protest not your own complaints.

  5. Interpreters were at both front and sides all day today and they did their excellent job! They are staff members of GIS and they decided to volunteer as interpreters for both sides. Numerous interpreters were there for at least 10 hours. Hand Waving to those interpreters. By the way, Bison TV is temporarily down and it should be back soon.
