You showed about police’s mistake again and again.
Yes, Police was wrong, sure wrong, awful wrong.
.
..
…
….So what?
So do you think this protest is very right things because police attacked student? Do you defend lock down HMB and closed classes?
Lock down and closed classes are still wrong thing even police did mistake.
You are persistent. This protest reason is not abour police’s mistake. This protest reason is BOT’s mistake.
Please back to basic issues.
About 32 years ago I was a deaf graduate student at Gally.
I was lawfully and peacefully in the Hearing and Speech Center trying to complete a required project prior to the
Thanksgiving break. A Gally DPS officer walked in and struck me on the head with a weapon for no apparent reason.
This officer was NOT proficient in ASL by any means. I was later informed there had been prior incidents involving this officer and other students. About a year later there was yet another similar incident involving this officer and yet another student. The officer was dismissed. Then there was the infamous incident where in a student was killed by another nonsigning DPS officer. Now Oct.6,2006
These are only incidents that I am personally aware of.
Then a year ago I was present for HC weekend and I observed
that most of DPS seemed to be nonsigning hearies and maybe 2-3 deaf officers. I hold IKJ personally responsible for these incidents subsequent to my assault. Surely Dr Jordan knows that the DPS murdered a student on HIS watch and his response is to hire a few deaf officers? Was this officer ever criminally charged? I hope and pray that no other student needs be harmed or killed before IKJ is held accountable
Jim Coyne Tucson,AZ
The DPS officer was cleared of all charges in the death of Carl Dupree.
I will cover the brutality of DPS until Gallaudet admits the truth about the incident. As long as DPS continues with its unacceptable treatment, I will pursue this, exposing to the world how the security guards have been treating deaf students.
Working Brain, like I said before, many students considered DPS guilty of murder and got away only due to interpreting mistakes. Few witnesses have examined the transcripts and said the interpreters didn’t convey their testimonies correctly.
In fact, since this revelation about the interpreting inaccuracies surfaced, more lawyers have adopted a new approach. Whenever a deaf person testifies and an interpreter is used, the legal teams videotape the deaf person for further documentation in case the interpreters convey the information wrong. I feel this approach is the best, since interpreters are humans and errors can happen.

dang.
DPS needs to be ASL FLUENT OFFICERS!
It is hard to believe how DPS, rental cop, etc, treated d/Deaf students like that. I know they were peaceful protestors. But hearing people think they were not peaceful protestors. I support all d/Deaf protestors for good reasons.

Toby
